Setting: We suggest conducting
the ceremony at the conclusion of an event. Perhaps at the end of
a leadership meeting, small group study, men’s retreat, pastoral
staff day of prayer, or leadership conference.
Preparing
for a Ceremony: With a little bit of planning and
preparation, your ceremony will be a memorable and meaningful event.
- Have one red bandanna
for each person being inducted. (You can purchase
red bandannas at your local department store, or we have found
good prices at www.wholesaleforeveryone.com.)
- Print a copy of the
Fellowship of the Red Bandanna story for each person being inducted.
Use either the PDF
or Word
version of this document, and print it on nice stationary or award-quality
paper.
- Arrange
to have people in your group who have already been inducted into
the Fellowship of the Red Bandanna to help you during the ceremony
by handing out bandannas and certificates.
The Script:
- Tell the story of
the Fellowship of the Red Bandanna. There are three different
ways you can do this.
- Read the story
yourself;
- Read the story
yourself, while showing a Powerpoint
slideshow.
- Play
a video of the story.

- download
the video of the story.
(right

- Read the commitment
section of the document, emphasizing that these leaders are committing
to help reach every man in America with a credible offer of Christ
and the resources to grow. Use the phrases, “You are
willing to go up while others are coming down” and
“you are saying to other men, ‘Follow me, I know
the way’.”
- Invite each person
to come up to you one at a time to receive their red bandanna.
- As they individually
come up to you, extend your right hand and say “I welcome
you into the Fellowship of the Red Bandanna.”
- Give them their red
bandanna. Have an assistant give them their copy of “The
Fellowship of the Red Bandanna” story.
- Close in a commissioning
prayer for the new inductees. Be sure to pray for their walk with
the Lord and God’s power to anoint them for reaching men.
- Encourage new indictees
to visit redbandanna.org and register
their membership in The Fellowship of the Red Bandanna.
